Radio MAC 107.1FM – Your one and only Muslim Community Radio at the heart of Bradford.

Change yourself, your family and the rest of society.

Radio MAC was founded in 2005 by Mr Shahid Kaleem Raaz. The Radio MAC journey initially started off with the airing of Radio Hajj. Although this Radio only lasted for 14 days it was a crucial stepping stone in the development of Radio MAC. Shahid Kaleem Raaz then went on to start the first ever Radio Milaad in the UK. The success of these two Radios led to the creation of many more various radio stations such as Radio Milaad, Miraaj, Muharram, Shabaan, Shaan-e-Islam, IQRA FM, Auliya FM and so many more. Shahid Kaleem had a clear vision which was to spread the word of Islam and whilst doing this, also creating community cohesion, as this was the fundamental purpose of creating Radio MAC. Mr Kaleem’s dream was to have a full-time community Radio as a medium for all members of the Muslim and wider Community to voice their opinions and to help in spreading the word of Islam in their own individual way, as well as, discussing ways in which to increase unity, harmony and prosperity within the Bradford community.

WHO WE ARE - OUR BACKGROUND

RADIO MAC 107.1FM (Muslim Community Radio station In Bradford)

Radio MAC 107.1FM, operated by Media Arts & Culture Ltd, stands as a venerable institution in Bradford, the United Kingdom, contributing significantly to the realm of community radio. Founded in 2005 by the visionary Mr. Shahid Kaleem Raaz, Radio MAC’s journey commenced with Radio Hajj, a short-lived but pivotal venture that laid the foundation for its subsequent growth and evolution.

Under Mr. Shahid Kaleem Raaz’s leadership, Radio MAC embarked on its mission to disseminate the teachings of Islam while simultaneously fostering community cohesion. The station quickly expanded its offerings, introducing innovative radio stations like Radio Milaad, Miraaj, Muharram, Shabaan, Shaan-e-Islam, IQRA FM, Auliya FM, and many more, reflecting Mr. Kaleem’s unwavering commitment to spreading the word of Islam and creating unity and harmony within the Bradford community.

Radio MAC, however, is not just a platform for discussing community issues; it is a beacon of celebration for the accomplishments and successes of individuals within the Bradford community. This inclusivity extends to individuals from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and ethnic groups, particularly those within the BAME (Black Asian Minority Ethnic Group) community. It sends a resounding message of unity, positivity, and the teachings of Islam, aligning its endeavours with the principles of Prophet Muhammed (Peace be Upon Him).

At Media Arts & Culture, we are dedicated to the noble pursuit of making the world a better place for all. Our firm commitment to forging positive relationships with all segments of the community is unwavering. We pledge to leverage our platform for meaningful and positive change. In this vein, Radio MAC has had the honour of participating in more than 95 short-term RSL (Restricted Service License) broadcasts on the FM frequency, offering a much-needed voice to the Muslim community to express the true message of Islam.

Throughout its nearly two-decade-long journey, Radio MAC has tirelessly collaborated with various community groups, including the Police, NHS, youth workers from Connexions, housing projects, government initiatives during the COVID-19 pandemic, educational institutions such as A2z Learning Centre & Inspiring Neighbourhood, and major financial institutions like HSBC. These collaborations have centred on addressing critical community issues and formulating proactive solutions. Furthermore, Radio MAC has used its platform efficiently over the past five years to organize events, competitions, quizzes, provide food for the homeless, distribute food parcels to the needy, address mental health issues, offer assistance to those dealing with matters like divorce, support individuals struggling with alcohol and drug addiction, and arrange uplifting outings for families and children. The overarching objective is to engage individuals of all ages, races, religions, and backgrounds while promoting a positive message to the community. Radio MAC’s impact extends beyond the airwaves. The station actively engages in charitable work, including the construction of hospitals and mosques, installation of over 500 water pumps, distribution of food parcels for the homeless, sponsorship of eye operations, aid to flood victims, and emergency relief initiatives. This commitment extends to both local and international communities, reflecting the station’s dedication to making a positive difference with the support of the community and the guidance of Shahid Kaleem and the Radio MAC team. Looking ahead, Radio MAC’s long-term aspiration is to ascend to a national level within the next decade. As we embark on this ambitious journey, we humbly request your prayers and support. WHAT WE DO

Radio MAC is not only here as a platform to discuss main issues within the community, but it is also a place where achievements and successes of individuals are celebrated and shared with the wider Bradford community.

Shahid Kaleem has always had an open-door policy, inviting everyone from all different backgrounds, cultures and ethnic groups, specifically, the BAME (Black Asian Minority Ethnic Group) community. Radio MAC has always been about sending a positive message and creating cohesion within the community. The ultimate aim is to spread knowledge about Islam and to educate the people of Bradford on how we can use Islam and the teachings of our Beloved Prophet Muhammed (Peace be Upon Him) to send positive messages to the community and tackle any issues, whether they are negative and promote the positive, in a manner which coincide with the teachings of the Prophet (Peace be Upon Him). Here at Media Arts & Culture, we are driven by a single goal; to do our part in making the world a better place for all. We strive to build positive relationships with all members of the community, and we assure all that we will use our platform to make a positive impact in all of our pursuits. We have had the honour to be the only group in the UK to take part in more than over 100 short term RSL’s broadcasts on the FM frequency since 2005. Our journey has led us to believe that the Muslim Community is in need of a voice to express the true message of Islam which is to live in peace and harmony together with all members of the community, not the negative messages and views portrayed in the media and online.
